"It's water off a duck's back to me, I do look older than I am. I have been grey since I was 22 or 23 so I've always had stick. So long as I'm out there performing then that's all I'm concerned about." he told today's Advertiser.
"It's going to be a tough test for us but I think we will be up there challenging for promotion.
"Rotherham is a big club at this level. They have a great fan base, a fantastic playing surface and once the new stand is completed then things will be even better.
"The gaffer has assembled a good squad and there are plenty here who have done well at League One level. If we do win promotion next season then it bodes well for next year because there is not going to be much tinkering to be done."
Having spent time out with a broken leg during his time at pikeyville, Andy is now fit and raring to go as the Milelrs look to him to spearhead a promotion push with some valuable clean sheets.
"I want to come in and really nail down the no.1 shirt. I've just turned 31 now but I want a good few years more, they say goalkeepers really don't come into their own until their early 30s.
"I had the disappointment of breaking my leg and being out of the game and I have a new hunger for it again now. I went on loan to Bury last season just to get used to playing football again.
"They offered me a contract but as soon as Mark Robins voiced interest then there was only one place I wanted to come and I drove across here and signed within a day.
"Being a local lad, growing up in Sheffield was a big factor but the challenge of helping get this club back into League One was important. It would be nice to stick a few smiles on the fans' faces again.
"They've had two seasons where it's not gone right but there's no minus ten this season. We start on a clean slate.
"What I noticed from my time at Doncaster Rovers was that there is not that much difference between the Conference and League Two but there is a bigger gap between League One and League Two.
"The higher you go, the better the quickness of thought. Players know what they are going to do before they even get the ball. "If we get a good start, I'm sure we'll do well this season and I want to play my part.
"I'm good at communicating, organising the back four and shot stopping, but we have a few experi¬enced players in defence who can organise as well.
"The pre-season has all been about fitness. The real stuff starts at Hereford tomorrow."
