Nobody guaranteed a place - Evans

Speaking to The Star, Evans revealed that he may make some changes to his side and that he recently turned down the chance to sign a player on the basis that he couldn't guarantee him a start.

The gaffer said: “I did turn down the chance of signing someone because his manager in the Premier League wanted me to ensure that player would be starting. The player involved is a good player but I can’t guarantee anyone a start.

“The side which started at Shrewsbury might not be the starting line-up when Crawley come here Saturday. No one is certain of a place. Yes it might be hard on players at times and we’ve some good players who’ve not started recently but that’s how it is.”

Evans has several options ahead of Saturdays clash with Kari Arnason and Claude Davis now available for selection, and Danny Hylton now back fully fit.

Blair Turgott and Wes Thomas got minutes under their belt in the reserves 2-1 win over Scunthorpe on Monday, with Thomas and Michael O'Connor finding the net.
