The Millers new home impressed FA officials as they hosted the England v Canada womens games last Sunday, which England won 1-0 in front of a crowd of aroudn 5000.
Speaking to the 'Tiser a proud Tony Stewart said that he hopes that the venue could now be in the frame to host England under 21 games.
“We had positive comments all round, from the Canadians and the FA. The Canadians said that the New York Stadium is better than anything they have back home and the FA were really pleased. They were happy with the friendliness and felt it was a good job all round. They have already said they will now consider us for England U21 games and officials will speak to team manager Stuart Pearce about it." Tony said.
“If we can get those games it’s a massive boost for the New York Stadium and for the town. It was an excellent afternoon and everyone went home happy after the late goal. We saw some wonderful football and the whole tempo was superb.” he added.
