He explains: "In the summer I identified what I could improve on and used the pre-season games to try and do that. The gaffer has given me pointers to lift my game.
"Awareness, vision, positional play he's helped me improve a bit of everything. He's basically told me to channel my energies better and not to run when I don't need to. I've a better idea now of where to be on the field and when and how best to make runs in behind defences.
"All I have been after is a run of games in the team to show what I can do, and now I am getting that," he said.
"I have a goals target and that is to get into double figures. If this is my first full season of regular, senior football then what is what I should be aiming for.
"Me and Derek Homes are trying to create a good partnership and I think the more games we play then the more understanding we'll get. But I have to say that it is good to play in a team that is safe in defence.
As a striker, it gives you the confidence to go forward to try and win matches.
"We don't want to be in this league more than a year and we believe we have the team to get out of it. It's a demanding league and last Saturday at Stockport was a prime example. It wasn't the prettiest game to play in and we were happy to come away with a draw after such a bad start.
"You just have to make the best of it. In home games you try and play football and show what you can do then you go away and battle it out to get results.
"The gaffer has put together a side to get success in this division."
