Oliver explained: ''I had no choice but to call the game off.
'At 4 o'clock we had a pitch inspection and both managers were happy with the state of the pitch - so I passed it as playable.
'But the temperature unexpectedly dropped quite dramatically around 6.30pm and we had another pitch inspection.
''Because of player safety I had to call the game off.
''I'm pretty sure neither manager would have liked it if they had lost a goal to a slip'', he concluded.
