The Millers youth teams are already using the 14 acre site, however the Millers plans for the site are to convert it into an academy standard training ground for all levels of teams.
Once work at New York is complete, work will commence on bringing the traiing ground upto that level. The Millers plans are to put into the site 4 full size pitches, including 1 artificial while renovating the existing buildings on site to provide a gym, changing rooms and offiices.
The Millers Player facilities manager Dave Fellowes told the Advertiser; “We're not looking to start the renovation work until September because with the stadium project still ongoing, we don't want to take on too much at once."
“There is a lot of work to do at the training ground, what with excavation, levelling and drainage and renovating the existing buildings and we want to be able to give it our full attention.”
“We're looking at Level 2 Academy status and that all depends upon the number of pitches, the quality of them and the other facilities. It basically means the club will be able to enter a higher youth league and attract better players.” Dave added.
