Pitch holding up well all things considered - Davison

With a deluge of rain during the Crewe game and a rugby match the following day, DVS is looking a little boggy and people have voiced concerns similar to last season about the conditions.

But speaking to the Advertiser, Davison says considering the wintery weather he's quite pleased. He said: "This winter has been a bad one and we're trying to look after every blade of grass. I think we have done quite a remarkable job with the conditions we've had and if you look at pitches up and down the country, they've all suffered.

"I watched Fulham on Monday night and their pitch wasn't fantastic and they've got every bit of equipment and know-how at their disposal. There are better pitches around than ours at the moment but they don't host the amount of games ours does.

"We have to factor in not only that but also the weather we keep getting thrown at us. "We had 18 millimetres of rain on Sunday and they played rugby on it. For us to play there on Tuesday and win, I'm chuffed with that."

Added Jim: "The pitch might not look nice but it is fine and I can assure everyone it played perfectly the other night. It's starting to look a bit bare in places but we're nearly at the end of February. If it was like that in September then people would be telling me I'm not doing my job properly.  We have five or six home games left and that's how I want it to look.

"By the time this weekend's match comes against Shrewsbury, it will have had a bit of a rest. We'll be working as hard as we can and hopefully you will see a different pitch tomorrow."
