He gave his reaction to the clubs website following the 9am confirmation that the Millers will travel to Crewe to open their League One campaign.
Speaking to themillers.co.uk he said: “We’ve been talking about the big names and the quality of the opposition and now we have to get ready to face these teams. It’s all hypothetical at the minute though and we just have to focus on that first game.
“You always look for the teams you’ve played for and coached at, which for me is quite a lot, but I spent a lot of time at Preston which I enjoyed and then had five good successful years at Crawley so they were a couple I immediately looked for. You then look at Christmas time and the last day like everybody else does.”
He added: "The gaffer likes to put fixtures in blocks, and put points tallies in, but that comes after the start of the season once you land in a position in the table. For now the focus is the first couple of games, getting our scouting system prepared and being ready for pre-season and the opening day at Crewe.”
