Speaking to today's Star, he explains: "It has been a case of perseverance paying off.
"We've worked hard with this one and frrankly, we're delighted.
"He was the experienced defender that we kept talking about but we knew we faced competition from other clubs.
"Graham knew how much we wanted him here and we have pushed the boat out on this one although we are still within budget.
"We had been building up a jigsaw and there was a piece missing in the middle. We've got that piece now and put it in."
Robins has been ruling the roost over no less than three goalkeepers in early pre-season training, and it's expected he'll make a move to tie one down to some form of contract as back up for first choice signing Andy Warrington.
