Robbo's Season Preview...

Again, speaking to the Advertiser, Robbo looks towards the new season and what the team have to do to do well in League Two, and who we're up against.

"We've put the finishing touches to our pre-season preparations and the lads are fit, enthusiastic and raring to go. We've worked during the summer to change personnel round and it remains to be seen how we do. The proof is in the pudding but I believe it will come right."

"What I can tell you is that the players are really determined. They're a good bunch and they've shown a lot of desire so far in the way they train and the way they carry themselves about the training pitch. They all want to learn."

This, remember, is a new start for myself and John Breckin as well. People know exactly what I expect of them. If they do that then everything will be fine. If not, things won't be fine for them."

"I want everyone pulling in the same direction. Everyone understands that and the new lads knew it from Day One when they put pen to paper. I have to say that we have been spoiled here at Rotherham over the years."

"When Breck was here last time with Ronnie Moore, the club had a phenomenal period of success and that's what we want to emulate. I wouldn't say that team over-performed. That's a fallacy. Players simply perform to their ability and were steered in the right way. People knew their jobs and had a lot of success with it. It's given us a model to follow and shows what can be done."

"John has brought back to us his expertise. He's been here for nearly as long as the walls and it's great to have him back. He's experienced success here and he wants to be part of something like it again. It's that sort of desire we've tried to instil in the people we've brought in."

"The supporters are optimistic and I like that, but we want the enthusiasm to be tempered slightly with reality. We've changed around a lot of players and they take time to gel." he asked.

"Who do I think will be the teams to watch in our league? Peterborough, Wycombe, Milton Keynes and Darlington have all invested a lot of money. Lincoln City always have a big, strong side and Shrewsbury will have high hopes in their new ground, but they've changed a few players around as well like us. Everyone will be setting off with the same hopes of doing well. We're under no illusions. We need a good start."

"If the court case goes our way on August 16, then brilliant—that would be something else to be glad about, but it's out of our hands. We'll concentrate on focusing everyone's minds on the job in hand."

"Pre-season has gone OK but a ball hasn't been kicked in anger yet...it's still early days for all of us."
