Roberts' third goal in the Millers 4-2 win at Valley Parade on Saturday will be remembered as one of the best strikes scored by a Miller, as he smacked home a 45-yard direct free-kick.
"It was a decent goal but the main thing is we got the three points, it's not about who scored but that we stay in the top three", he said.
"I saw the goalkeeper off his line, and I struck a good ball and luckily for me it's gone in.
"Andy Dibble (the goalkeeping coach) had said I should try it if I saw the keeper off his line. I've tried it a couple of times in training, luckily today he was far enough off his line and it came off.
"We had a dip in midweek against Luton, but we picked ourselves up and had a go again, with the way we defended at times we thoroughly deserved the three points.
"We had a couple of bad results and people say we have dipped in form but we are in the top three just the same as three or four weeks ago".
With four goals being scored and Adam Le Fondre not getting on the scoresheet, it was probably a suprise to supporters, but Roberts added: "It's always nice to see the other lads chipping in. Alf's a sniffer and he's always going to get goals.
"I'm settling in well, my feet are on the ground I've turned my life around, my football will do the talking now, unlike before when my gob did!" he laughed.
