He explained: "Obviously you don't want to concede that many goals but we have worked mainly on attacking play so far and haven't done anything defensively.
"Having said that it was naïve and although we have emphasised the attacking play we've got to be able to cope with that. We have had one or two words and it shouldn't happen again.
"We have to take out of the game what it was - a fitness exercise, even though no one wants to concede five goals. But there was pleasing stuff going the other way, the forward play was as good as I have seen for a long time and we just need to fine tune it.
"It's still early days and we have good footballers, now they have to be able to roll their sleeves up and do the ugly stuff. Whoever does that bit the best will start the season and hopefully go on and do well for us.
"We have to make sure we are more aggressive, go and win the ball, but that is going to come, we have players we know can do that as they are feeling their way into it.
"Graham Coughlan is a little bit behind with his fitness but that is not a problem and we are looking for more in terms of clearing the ball from set pieces again, we have to tighten up.
"But it gives us something to work on and going forward we looked a threat for 90 minutes. Marc Newsham linked up well with Derek Holmes but he will do that with any one as he is an intelligent footballer. I was pleased when we were attacking but defensively we need some work."
