He explained: "I'm very pleased with another 90 minutes under the belt. A lot of the players have played a full 90 minutes and are match fit. I think it was a good work out for both sides.
"We are a little bit down on where we want to be at the minute with a couple of niggling injuries. But other than that, in terms of the football, we are ok. Depending on performances and how we go in the next few games, things will determine if we have the right personnel at the club that we have been looking for.
"I'm pleased with the players we have brought in, and I think that people can see the potential in the players. They are a great bunch and they all want to work and get better. The result didn't matter, we had a lot of the possession and it was a typical pre-season game.
"The goal from Brogan was great and it has given me food for thought because he looks good, he does well in midfield and he does ok out on the left hand side so we have one or two players who can fill in, demonstrated by Tonge, who I thought was outstanding today.
"I think the game was another step forward for us."
The Millers take on Sheffield United tomorrow night at Millmoor in their next pre-season outing, kick off 7.45pm. Admission is £10 and £5 concessions and supporters can pay on the gate.
