He explained to the Star: "There was an incredible feel-good factor around the club before Saturday and everyone should really be looking forward to a Carling Cup tie like tonight.
"Not only are we re-born but we've got a real good tie. It could not have been more interesting or more high-profile for us than getting one of the Sheffield clubs. Not so long ago, this sort of game looked a long way off.
"They have got off to a great start this time and there is no doubt we face a really tough hurdle. But it is a challenge that we are looking forward to and our supporters will be fully expecting us to give it our best shot."
Chairman Tony Stewart, who's company ASD lighting sponsor the kop at Hillsborough, added: "Across the years we have put money into a number of local clubs and different sports through various sponsorships, but I'm totally Rotherham United now. There's a football club to build here."
