Robins to give O'Connor a chance to shine

O'Connor, now 20, spent a short time at Millmoor last season and played in one reserve game before returning to his parent club Everton with injury.

Now released by the Toffees, the winger is back at Don Valley and hungry to prove his worth.

Robins explained to the Star: "He's a winger who is predominantly right-footed but can play either right or left side. He's very quick, small but has decent ability and he's had a good upbringing at Everton.

"I shall have him involved in pre-season matches and then take it from there."

Meanwhile, Robins and his assistant John Breckin were at the Horse and Jockey in Rawmarsh last night chairing a fans forum, along with other club representatives, which saw around 50 to 75 people in attendance.

Issues discussed were the hopes for a new stadium within the four year timescale, the new setup at Barbot Hall and the waiting game on striker Michael Boulding whilst Robbo continues his hunt for a target man to replace Derek Holmes.
