The midfielder was pushed further forward to play behind the strikers in Tuesdays game with Sheffield United and Scott believes it was one of his better games for the Millers.
He said to the Tiser; “We need to get Schoey in to better areas high up the pitch where he can affect the game and where he's at his best.
“Because of the formation we played on Tuesday, with Ben Pringle and Lewis Grabban out wide, it allowed Schofield to have a little bit more freedom and find areas where we can get the ball. He made some terrific runs. His ability is fantastic and it was a really good performance from him but it was only due to the fact that we could get him the ball and that's credit to the others as well.
We tried that formation a couple of times in pre-season but the fact is, I'm still learning about the side, not just physically and tactically and how they cope with different things. That formation gives us a real option now and we know we can adapt,” added Scott.
