Scott has been scouring the market and is likely to use the loan window, probably for two further additions, when it re-opens next week.
He said to Millersplayer: "We always knew that we wanted someone with a bit of physical presence up front who can help out Grabs and Chris Holroyd and get on the end of crosses that we are going to get in the box.
"We spoke to several centre-forwards but when I spoke to Alex we liked him straight away and we got in there quickly. I feel that we've got an extremely good deal. He's just turned 28 so it's a good age."
Scott added: "We are still looking for cover on the left-hand side but people were asking ridiculous money for players and I wasn't doing that. Tom Newey is our only recognised left-back so we are reasonably light there.
"But the loan window opens again in seven days and I've got my eye on a few players."
