"I'm very happy with what Steve has done", said Tony who was a guest of presenter Rob Staton on the stations Football Heaven phone-in.
"Steve has said to me he wants to be here for the next 10 years and that seems about right to me. We've moved into a new stadium and we've had 30 players coming in and out of the club in the last nine months. To consolidate that and get us to where we are today is incredible.
"We think we could hit the ground running. The manager is confident that the calibre of players we have would perform better in League One than they are in League Two.
"Steve and I communicate very well and I know he will be suggesting players to me that he thinks we need. My job is to give him the resources."
The Millers are looking to seal promotion this weekend and need just a point against bottom club Aldershot to return to League One after a five season absence.
