"I didn't even look at the league table before I came here," said Stockdale. "It was just a matter of getting games and coming to work with a good manager like Mark Robins and his record this season speaks for itself.
"I've been happy to help and I've hopefully provided a stepping stone for Rotherham United. I'm from Yorkshire and Rotherham is a Yorkshire club. They treated me like any other player and it's a great club to be at.
"The move did me the world of good. It was brilliant. I was a first-year YT trainee at Doncaster when Andy Warrington was just about to leave, I knew of him and he might have seen me about doing a bit of ball boying - that's how old he is!
"It was good working with him and Simon Tracey as well as young Steven Cann. He's only 20 but he's exactly where I was at his age.
"People think the reserves are a bad thing but at Fulham they strive for the best, which all Premier League clubs do.
"The difference with first team football is that people's livelihoods are at stake."
