Chairman Peter Ruchniewicz speaks after last nights relegation which brought our 4 year reign in the Championship to an end. But the outlook is looking good and he expects the club to be pushing for an immediate return to the Championship.
Speaking to the Rotherham Star he said, "We want to get away from such tags as 'little ol' Rotherham' and 'the ground that time forgot'. They are in the past, our aim is moving this club forward and making it something the whole town will be proud of. Let's put to bed those old cliches of Rotherham. We know there are a lot of people out there who want this club to do well but don't necessarily come and watch. Well, we will be tapping into them and the town as a whole and want everyone to feel a part of it."
"Our vision is for the whole town to embrace the football club and for it to become a focal point for the community, We have MPs pulling for us, the borough council is keen to help and we aim to take this club forward."
Planning permission for the new stand project will hopefully be granted before the end of this month while the club are looking at putting the work out to tender about now.
"The club has gone through tremendous change in the last few months. We now have a platform to build a long-term future for the Millers and a soccer club that fully involves the Rotherham community." Ruchniewicz told the official site
The club have a very busy and important few weeks coming up, the new season tickets will be launched soon as well as the right issue, "The rights issue will not only offer a positive financial boost to the club but will provide the opportunity whereby the supporters - through the Rotherham United Supporters Trust - can become the biggest shareholder group in the club" he added.
The last fans' forum showed there was terrific goodwill towards the club and everything we are trying to do. Now is the time to stand united and build a new future for the Millers," Peter ended with.
