The out of favour striker bagged two goals in 11 games on loan at Bury, where he was joined by Daniel Nardiello, and the gaffer says now Hylton has returned early to have surgery, he will be re-assessed and has a part to play in the current set up.
Evans told the press: "Danny is back with us and has had a standard hernia operation.
"He has been brilliant at Bury so we will re-assess the situation and he has a future here."
Evans still has to decide on the future of Matt Tubbs after the loss of Nouha Dicko, who was recalled from his loan spell by Wigan earlier today.
