Earlier this week there have been a couple of newspaper articles reporting that Coleman is in talks with people in an attempt to bring in more much needed money into the club. It seems as if the reports have been mis-interpretted as a takeover of the club.
The Yorkshire Post quoted 'Chairman Denis Coleman is locked in talks with a number of possible investors who have been impressed with the League One club's performances this season'
The Millers cheif operating officer Paul Douglas told the YP: "We feel now, that having reached this position, it is an opportune moment to approach certain individuals about coming in to invest and take things further. That might be something that happens in the near future. The four directors are all local guys who are reasonably well-known in the local community. They have been talking to people and continue to do so on a less than a formal basis.
"They have never been in this for the ego trip and, nine months ago, none of them dreamt that we would be running a football club or even had the ambition to do so. We have done what we can but now if someone else is willing to come forward with the wherewithal and resources to take thing further, I know the board will not stand in their way. Until that happens, they remain fully committed to the task, their enthusiasm has not been dampened." he added.
However, Denis was quick to deny that a takeover is about to happen at Millmoor after a fan rang the station.
"I've had a memeber of staff ring me up and said theres something on the radio about a change of ownership." and he added "It's news to me as it's the first I've heard of it when the member of staff rang me up about it."
Denis then went on to talk about the club in general, "We're happy with the results and everything how theyre going, its still a massive task to get things on the straight and narrow but we've put out a statement to the press which will be released on friday regarding how things are going at the club."
"It's been done by our finance director Giles Brearley who has been working hard behind the scenes, when we took over everything was a rush and we had a winding up order from the inland revenue the day after we took over but six months down the line we have a set of accounts for six months. Giles is basically working on everything."
