Steve Evans has been in talks with numerous players in recent weeks as he aims to uild his squad to tackle League One next season, and admits that he's got no problems with players leavingn to talk to other clubs; “If anything, I’ve actively encouraged them to speak with other clubs after they’ve spoken to us,” Evans told the 'Tiser.
“Some clubs try to be guarded about things like that but we’re not. We only want players to be here because they want to be and it will make them realise what we have in comparison with others."
“I make sure they’ve spoken to every club they want to before making a decision. When they’ve done that then we can take matters further.”
Evans admits that recruiting players will be easier than it was a year ago; “Last year we had the promise of the stadium which was a building site but now they’re coming for a look round and being blown away, We had to tell players what the club wanted to achieve, rather than be able to let them see for themselves."
“There’s a feelgood factor around the club, crowds have gone up substantially. the management team have had three straight promotions, and we’ve got one of the most ambitious chairmen in the game. But as we’ve said, there is a wage structure here and we will be sticking to that.” he added
