Speaking to the Advertiser today, chief operating officer Paul Douglas blames the run of postponed games last season for the Millers missing out on atuomatic promotion.
"I'm convinced that the long break cost us automatic promotion last year. If left us playing two games a week for four or five weeks and we ending up dropping points I'm sure we would have got at regular times. We do not want that to happen again.
"Is the pitch at Don Valley better equipped to survive bad weather? It's certainly a lot better than it was last year because a lot of work has been done on it. We have also not had the amount of rain we had last year in the autumn. That also played a part in the problems." Douglas added.
After an army of volunteers helped clear the pitch of snow yesterday, the club are hopeful that tomorrows game against Aldershot will go ahead as planned.
"There has been a hell of a lot of snow on the pitch but it is playable underneath and the snow has protected it from the frost. The rising temperatures that have been forecast offer us a glimmer of hope but a lot will depend upon the amount of volunteers and whether the forecast is true. The Football League want the game played and they will give us every opportunity to do so." Douglas said.
