After just over 2 seasons with the Millers, Commercial director Steve Coakley is moving over the city to neighbours Sheffield United after being approached by them, talking in todays Advertiser he looks at his time with the Millers.
“I never anticipated leaving. People can put two and two together and get 3,000, thinking there has been a fall-out, but it couldn't be further from the truth. It was a career decision and anyone who knows me will tell you it wasn't taken on a whim. When you live and breath a job 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you just don't walk away from it with no emotions."
“I'd love to have been around for the new stadium and seen the job through from start to finish but a lot of the work has been done in terms of the design and size and now it's a case of building it. I'll only be a few miles down the road and I'll still have a huge interest in watching the development with continued excitement.” he added.
Coakley has recieved much praise from the Millers fans on his site with his approach to customer service and the improvments in the shop and commercial dept, but he plays down his importance; “It's not just about me, one pen pusher is leaving the fold and another will come in. There's some great staff and great colleagues here as well; dedicated and talented people who've all played a huge role."
“The club is in a fantastic position and there's a great chairman who will ensure it continues to go forward.” he added.
