The Millers begin life at the New York Stadium against Barnsley on Saturday after two good wins so far during pre-season.
As the squad prepare to fly home from the Algarve following yesterdays victory over Oldham, Evans told the official website he was proud to be the man to lead the team into it's new era.
"The lads will train today before we head back to Rotherham. We are all looking forward to Saturday and playing our football in the New York Stadium, it really is awesome. In football you very seldom get to do things that are history making but on Saturday we all will by being at the Barnsley match.
"The New York Stadium will be in place for hundreds of years and I am so proud that I will be the manager who is in charge of Rotherham United on Saturday. The Chairman will no doubt shed a tear and I hope I can help him get the success he deserves.
"Our supporters have suffered over recent times but on Saturday we are back home and the future begins. I am proud to be a Miller and I will give this job everything I have inside me to give you all the team you deserve. Together we can deliver the dreams and by being together we can enjoy the ride, one we are all very much looking forward to - roll on Saturday."
