The Millers have lost thier last 2 home games to Bristol Rovers and Barnet who are both at the lower end of League 2, leaving fans questioning the gaffer and vent thier frustrations.
However Evans spoke about the teams training this week and the players attitudes.
"It's not been about lifting them, because we never smashed them down," he said. It's been a week where we have had to say the last two performances haven't been good enough. We have to look in before we can look out and with the benefit of hindsight I can say I would have picked a different team and system and the players can probably say they need to do a little bit more." Evans said.
"We had a real positive meeting, training has been bright, but it has been all season. People say I have lost the dressing room and they don't want to play for me, but everything is geared up to us playing 19 cup finals."
"You have to distance yourself from the criticism and focus on getting the team right. It's a perception of doom and gloom and that's all it is, Our performances haven't been right for the last two matches and that's my responsibility and it's my responsibility to get it right."
"Part of the reason I joined Rotherham was because of the size of the club. Ronnie Moore told me when I joined that the fans will back me to the hilt, but if it wasn't right they'd tell me. The last two performances have not been good enough and well below what the supporters would expect." he added.
