Kevin Blackwell
The former Millers no.2 under Neil Warnock knows the club so any diminuive transfer kitty wouldn't come as a shock. He was believed to be a favourite last time the job was up for grabs and it was also rumoured that he would become manager with Warnock taking a backseat as a Director of Football over the summer when the club were negotiating with Warnock. Blackwell currently assists Warnock on the touch-line in Cardiff in his new role but would surely prefer to be the main man.
Stuart Gray
Another ever-present face in the bookies favourites. He declined them to see the season out with Fulham before Neil Redfearn took over and is linked every time the job becomes available (which is a lot). He can stabilise a side as shown during his time down the motorway at Sheffield Wednesday. Although there is little hope of survival left for Rotherham now, he get them going in League One.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
The Millers were admirers of his work at Burton Albion and since his sacking at Queens Park Rangers, JFH wouldn’t cost them a penny! He was one of the names in the frame before Redfearn’s appointment. Not to sound like an ominous broken record but things aren’t looking good for the Millers but Floyd-Hasselbaink could surely help Rotherham United bounce straight back up into the second tier.
Of course, all of this would depend on the candidate wanting to be the next Rotherham United head coach. With the way things stand, it’s a poisoned chalice.
