"What did Rotherham want? They wanted a community stadium. What are they getting? They're getting an iconic community stadium which will have a seven-days-a-week function which will invite the people of Rotherham to engage in all types of sports and community events." He told the Tiser.

"This is the biggest thing to be built in Rotherham since the Minster, I really do believe that."

"This is not just about Rotherham United moving back into Rotherham, it's about creating jobs in the region. It won't just be another football stadium, it will be another venue for Rotherham town centre and you need people to service that. It will create additional jobs and that is always welcome in relatively tough times." Steve Coakley added.

"It's been a long journey and a lot of hours have been put in by a lot of people but we are proud of where we are at and we are absolutely certain we will leave a legacy within the town as well. It will be a great arena to play football in but it will also be a great facility and a great landmark within the town centre."

"All the Rotherham United supporters who go to Don Valley and go to the nearby pubs and corner shops spend their money there. We will be bringing that spend back here and helping the regeneration and resurgence of the town centre. We don't just want to provide an iconic football stadium, but an iconic building within Rotherham town centre. This hopefully is not just about Rotherham United but the town of Rotherham as well."

Two years of meticulous planning and hard work have culminated in this announcement. The stadium will be an iconic figure right in the centre of Rotherham." Stewart said:
