He told last Fridays Advertiser: “I’m excited, more so than at any time during my time here and I think the people of Rotherham should be too.
“We’ve got a manager in Steve Evans who has come in and embraced the town with both arms and is putting together a team that is going to play some exciting football. We’ve got the iconic stadium that we wanted and to see the signs go up this week was another wonderful moment. The club crest will go up shortly and ‘Rotherham United’ after that.
“People are going to see a real difference in the stadium site in the coming days. There is still a lot to do and the timescale was always going to be tight but credit to GMI for putting the time and effort in.
“A lot of work is being put into the main stand and it is looking more like a hotel with its showers and toilets and we’re now onto what they call the second fix, with the painting and carpeting and so on. The finishing touches are being made and we’ll soon be starting the landscaping outside. It’s all looking really good."
