The 24 year-old has been through the mill so to speak, playing in a variety of roles, moving onto and then off the transfer list as well as recovering from a bad injury which kept him out for three months.
But he hopes his recent spell at right back will go some way towards earning him a new contract when his two year deal lapses in June.
He told the Advertiser: “I have played at centre-half, right-back and centre-midfield, and last year I played right and left wing as well, so hopefully that is going to help me out in getting a new contract.
“As for right-back, I thought I did well in the four or five matches up to Saturday. We had the best chances but if you're not going to win it, make sure you don't lose it. It was a poor goal to give away and the lads were gutted. That was my most disappointing game but I think I'd rather not think about it and concentrate on the next one.”
He adds that a new deal would be nice to have going into the new stadium next season: “Don Valley isn't the best to be honest. The wind is always there. it doesn't go away, even in the summer!
“I've driven past the new stadium site and it's going to be unbelievable. It's always great playing in front of thousands of people and in a new stadium right in the middle of Rotherham, it's going to be extra special. When we get there hopefully I'll still be a part of everything.”
