The Millers lost to local neighbours, and lost members of the team to injury, but Warney stays positive.
Speaking to themillers.co.uk, Warney said; "It had that feel of a nil-nil, I thought one bit of class would be the difference but, unfortunately, it wasn’t my team who had it today. They carved us open once, maybe once in the first half as well. I don’t think the ‘keeper’s had much to do in the game."
“There were a lot of free-kicks and stoppages of play. Unfortunately my team came out on the wrong end of a one-nil. You’d be surprised to know I’m disappointed with the goal, I don’t think any Manager is happy when someone concedes a goal. I think Darnell Fisher got a bit square, he got inside him and tucked it in quite comfortably. It’s hugely frustrating. I think the lads, physically, have given me everything they’ve got. It didn’t really drop for them in the box today."
“I felt we started the game really well but we didn’t have enough guile or class to cut them open. On another day one of those headers might have gone in. It was a fiery game in a good Yorkshire derby.”
“I had a couple of injuries and had to makeshift the team. I had Tom Adeyemi drop out the game so all our team prep had gone up the wall. We didn’t know that until quarter-to-one, so that was disappointing. We went four-four-two and finished three-five-two because of the injuries. There’s no point berating the lads as we need to go again Tuesday night. We’ll do everything we can to bandage them up, pick them up for another game on Tuesday. We did everything right to pick up at least a point today but lady luck isn’t shining down on me at the moment.”
Looking towards Tuesday nights visit to Nottingham Forest, Warney hopes to have some players back available.
“I’ll have Newell back and I’ll have Adeyemi back, It’ll be 24 hours too soon for Frecks but I might have some new bodies in the building. “I’d expect Belaid and Fisher to be out for at least two weeks. Regarding recruitment I was trying to bring defenders in."
“I’m hopeful and everyone is doing everything behind the scenes. I’m confident in getting new bodies in but I don’t know if they’ll be here in time for Tuesday.”
“I’m going home disappointed with the result but I have to be positive with the lads.”
