Warne blames errors for defeat

“I thought it was a pretty ugly game really and the conditions were not conducive to good football, We said to the lads at half time, it’s not one of those days when we can play while we had Potter go off early, although this did not have a massive effect. "

“I thought we had enough chances to come away with something. To come away with nothing leaves me hugely frustrated. We need to go back to ugly defending."

"Obviously after a defeat I’m never happy. Tactically, the lads were set up perfectly to deal with what they had but individual errors cost us. If we can eradicate that we have more than enough to pick up points in this league.”

“I thought Williams took his goal well and I thought he played well, I thought Newell was a constant threat. We looked dangerous on set-pieces but obviously it’s disappointing not to come away with something when I thought we deserved more from the game."

While the Memorial Ground pitch came in for critism, Warne refused to lay the blame on it for the defeat; "The pitch is a big pitch, and it's soft. There are divots everywhere and when we came out for the second half I noticed that my goalkeepers area area hadn't been 'divoted' but the whole pitch had been."

"We told the lads at half time not to play backward passes because it was bobbling and all that. I think Joe Mattock put a cross in during the first half which he virtually put in with his knee because it bobbled up so high."

"It was the same for both teams, so I'm not making that as an excuse. But it made it a different game to the one we possibly expected."
