Speaking to the media after the game, Warney gave his thoughts.

It took a while for the Millers to get in the dressing room at the ground, by the time they had, Warney had got his team talk ready.

"We couldn't get into the ground, That was my team talk done. It fired the lads up a treat. The first-half performance was enough to win the game. We had to knock and wait for someone to come and unlock the door for us. I've never had that before in professional football. I would like to think it hadn't been done on purpose. I used it in my team talk as if it had been."

"One of Oxford's players was saying in the programme that he thought they were the best side in the league. I read that out to the lads. That was great. That was my team talk done again."

"I thought we were really good, particularly in the first half, and we deservedly went in 3-0 up. We had a plan of how to play against them - we had to block inside spaces and we didn't mind defending crosses."

"The lads were excellent and I told them to not let Oxford back into it during the second half because it was a dangerous scoreline. They made two attacking changes and brought good players on, but we're just pleased to come away with a win and roll on the next game."

"We tried to exploit the space on the counter-attack and we had pace to do that. The two up front were really reliable, so we knew that if we could win the ball back and pick the right pass, more often than not we'd get in.

"With that we were a constant threat and I was disappointed that we didn't score in the second half, but overall we are really pleased with our performance against a strong team."

After the game, an emotional Richie Barker's name was chanted by the near 900 strong travelling Millers after the passing his younger brother;

"It's the first time I've ever seen my best friend cry," manager Paul Warne said. "At the end when the fans were singing his name I was absolutely buzzing for him. It's been a tough day for him, a tough few days. The players really wanted to do well for him."
