Warney, now a coach on the backroom team, spent two spells as a player with the club enjoying back to back promotions under Ronnie Moore and has also had a spell in caretaker charge of the team with Andy Liddell two seasons ago.
And he couldn't hide his delight that his loyal service to the club has been rewarded earlier in the week.
"I'm sincerely chuffed with the thought that I can come here with my wife and kids and have a game, it means the absolute world to me. Obviously theres the financial boost but it sincerly means the world to me, all the family will come up and its something that my kids can remember.
"This is my eleventh season at the club and I've been generally lucky when I've been here that it's been pretty successful. Touch wood, I wasn't here through the bad times. The first season I joined we got into the play-offs but lost to Leyton Orient, the second season we won promotion and the third season we won promotion and the next four seasons we were in the Championship.
"Mick Harford came in and I was one of four players out of contract and we all got released. Now I'm older and wiser I can see why and know that managers want to bring their own players in. I then had two years at Oldham and two years at Yeovil and then I got the chance to come back and have spent the last three years trying to get promotion with the team and I've only got good memories of being here," added Paul.
The testimonial match already has confirmed old boys Alan Lee, Kevin Watson and Stewart Talbot and additionally of course Ronnie and John Breckin have been invited along.
It's set to take place next July with opponents named over the New Year.
Well done to Warney from all of us at MillersMAD, thoroughly deserved!
