After 23 games so far this season the Millers have let in 42 goals, a stat that threatens to put paid to any promotion hopes.
“We've conceded an average of nearly two goals a game this season and it's ridiculous. It's getting beyond a joke and everyone has to take responsibility; forwards, midfield, defenders, staff, everybody." Scott told the Advertiser.
“We're all in it together but it's the same old story. Saturday was soured by the result and the manner of the defeat and the frustration that we are seeing the same things over and over again and it is holding us back."
“We have relied on our front players too many times this season to get us out of a hole but sometimes they are going to have an off day and when that happens we have to be solid behind them and keep clean sheets and make it easier to win and we haven't been able to do that.”
“The back four has been a big problem because when you are conceding goals and you're chopping and changing and getting players cup tied, it's difficult. But having said that, players should be able to come in and perform to the level they're expected to and we haven't been able to do that. We've conceded far too many goals; we know that.”
“The sooner we get a settled back four the better but in the meantime the four that are on there have got to try and keep clean sheets. That's what we're paid to do. As much as things are unsettled, when you come into the side as a defender you know your job is to stop goals. It might not be pretty sometimes but it doesn't have to be. I'm not just saying that as a back four thing but as a team thing."
“Clean sheets give you a platform to build on and there's no denying we haven't had enough of them.”
