We must play our game - Sharps

Last updated : 29 May 2010 By Duke
Speaking to the Advertiser this week Sharps has been taking on board the experience of players in the team who have played before at Wembley Sharps said:

"I have spoken to lads who have played there in the past and they say that after half-an-hour your legs have gone because you can get so emotionally caught up in the atmosphere."

"We've not got to do that. We've got to last 90 minutes and play the game, not the occasion, and not have that nervous tension. That can get to you and waste a lot of your energy."

"I don't think motivation will be a problem. The main thing is keeping people's feet on the floor and focused on what the job is."

"First and foremost, we need to make sure we go out on Sunday and perform to the best of our ability and hopefully that will be good enough."

"As a supporter I've been to Wembley a few times to see Liverpool and Tranmere," he said:
"I've seen winning teams and losing teams and I know which one makes for a better day.

"It's a good thing to lead the team out but it will be better to go and pick the trophy up at the end. That's the ambition but there's a long time until that happens."

"I would love to win there but it's not really about me. It's about the team going there and performing and winning a game of football."

"I must say that it is all starting to sink in a bit now. Everyone is talking about Wembley now and all the focus is on it."

"You don't want to think about it too much because it can bog you down a bit but the training has been good this week and the lads are buzzing."

"It's all come down to 90 minutes-or 120 minutes if it goes to extra time. The whole season hinges on one game."
