The 23 year old will join the Millers next week on a two year contract, subject to passing a medical to become the Millers second signing of the season.
Williamson was still under contract at Sixfields, however Northampton boss Colin Calderwood told the Northampton Official website NTFC.co.uk "Lee has been offered the chance to play closer to his home and to play at a higher level, He wants to make the move, He had one year remaining on his contract but he has the opportunity to earn himself a longer deal at Rotherham with this move. Lee leaves with our thanks and best wishes."
Meanwhile Millers boss Mick Harford told themillers.co.uk "Lee is a player I know a lot about as I saw him in his Mansfield Town days, he is very athletic and gets up and down the pitch. He is a central midfield player but he can also play on the left or the right but prefers to be in the middle."
Harford is also expecting Mike Pollitts move to Wigan to be completed in the next few days, and if and when that happens, he is expecting more players to be brought into the club.
