Gareth Evans and Adam Le Fondre netted seocnd half braces to send the Millers home with a well deserved 4-1 victory and Scott was very pleased, without getting too carried away ahead of the trip to Crewe on Tuesday.
"We counter attacked extremely well and the lads are delighted in the dressing room," he said to Millers Player.
"This is a good base to build upon. Our start to the second half wasn't great, but apart from that it was an excellent performance."
Scott explained what persuaded him to hand Evans a full debut: "I just had a feeling about Gareth today. Obviously Chris Holroyd is really disappointed to miss out and it was a tough decision, but having looked at the way they play, I thought Gareth could add something for us.His first goal was a real boost for us after going a goal down and we never looked back from there. He attacks crosses very well and we saw that with his second goal when Alfie put a brilliant cross in.
"Alfie's second goal looked like the referee had blown and he was just messing around with it, but that just shows how composed he is.If we'd scored more, I don't think anyone would have been surprised because we carved them open for a couple of our goals.
"We've been looking at videos of our games - the delivery and the runs we make - and thinking about how we can change it. Raynesy was a threat all afternoon from set pieces and could have scored, but he had a header cleared off the line.If we're going to do well this season, everyone has to chip in, we can't just rely on our front players," added the gaffer.
