Speaking to the press after watching hs team claim a point with a fifth successive late goal, the gaffer said ;"It was like a cup tie, it was end to end, We started very well and scored two good goals. They have put balls into our box and tested us and got themselves in front. I think on their bench they thought it was done but you should never think it is done when you're playing Rotherham United, even if we were 5-0 down with 10 minutes to go we'd still have a chance because we have quality players."

“I’ve just been speaking to some people from Preston and it was played like a cup tie with some real intensity. We got ourselves in front with two good goals and we also felt we should have had a penalty on Wes Thomas.”

With the Millers 2-1 ahead at the break, North End came back with two goals in the second period to put them in front only for Lee Frecklington to get his second of the night and 11th of the season with two minutes of normal time remaining.

“We knew Preston would have a real good go in front of their supporters and put balls into the box and their bench thought it was done, but it’s never done against Rotherham United. When you’re 2-0 up you’re sure to be disappointed when you don’t take maximum points but we know this is a club with a proud tradition and they’ve given the manager everything they had.

“If you’re a neutral you’ve seen a great game and fantastic advert for League One, if you’re Simon Grayson you’re disappointed to concede a late goal and if you’re Steve Evans you’re disappointed when you’re 2-0 up and with a chance to maybe make it three,” Evans added.

"I always thought we would get a goal. To be fair we had six men up front when we scored a goal and all I remember is the number of grey shirts in their box trying to score."
