There were run outs for 'keeper Adam Collin who looked assured in his work, defenders Richard Brindley and Pablo Mills whilst Michael Tidser and Danny Hylton also got some much needed game time as Evans' men ran out easy winners through an own goal, a Kieran Agard penalty and Alex Revell's towering header.
The boss told themillers.co.uk: “There were a few chances in either box but I think that the gulf in class was enormous. We made the five changes from the weekend, but we were without Tom Eaves who was ill and Tubbsy who picked up a little knock in training yesterday, he could have played at a push but there was no point in taking any chances. I was pleased with the way we played, we worked hard, especially second half where I think our fitness told.
“You have to look at the quality of play in the second half, the quality of the passing and the movement; there was a gulf in class. It shows you what progress we have made in a year because we came here almost to the week, we drew 0-0 and we were hanging on.”
The Millers are now through to the final 16, where they could face neighbours Chesterfield in the Northern quarter finals.
