An upbeat Gary Mills was fairly pleased after his York side secured a point following their midweek defeat to Fleetwood Town.
He told BBC Radio York: "Rotherham set their stall out to get promoted this season and we've got a 0-0 at home with them.
"When you have games like this you have to be strong and wait for that opening. We had a couple of good openings to score, we didn't take them and that's the difference. But I'm absolutely delighted with my players again today."
Millers acting gaffer Paul Raynor thought his side did enough to win it second half and reflected briefly to Radio Sheffield.
"On the balance of play, it was an even first half. I expected a little more from us in the final third. In the second half, we probably were unfortunate not to come away with three points."
