Talking to Rotherham’s official site, Harford was particularly pleased with the first half performance. "It's a good start for us and a clean sheet which I am delighted with. The overall performance was very good and we should have gone in at half time two or three ahead as we had basically controlled the 45 minutes. We knew they would come out strong in the second half when I thought some of our defending was very good so I am happy with a point as it's a difficult place to visit.”

Mick Harford: Happy with a point
Harford made only one change to the starting XI to that which began against Walsall and that saw Neil Cutler make his debut for Rotherham in between the posts replacing Gary Montgomery, whose woeful error cost the Millers two points on day one and Harford liked the way Cutler performed on his first appearance and was confident that the axing of Montgomery won’ affect the young keeper too much. “Neil Cutler did well on his debut, he has got a lot of presence, he came and took the pressure off a few times at corners and when balls were played into the box so he did his job while his kicking was excellent as well.

I didn't tell the keepers who was playing until five o'clock, it was a big decision and I had given it a lot of thought over the last two or three days, it was just about the Walsall game. Monty had played in the pre-season games but I just thought I needed to take the pressure off him a little bit. Being the type of lad he is I know Monty won't get his head down and he will be fighting for his place. He accepted it fine and I know he will be behind Neil.”

Rotherham had to soak up large periods of pressure in the second half and Harford, who is still looking for his first win as Rotherham manager was proud of his men. “You don't come to places like this without coming under a lot of pressure but late on some of our defending was very good. Apart from a cutting edge to finish off the moves and things we have been working on, it was close to what we want but we were just a bit tentative in the last third with our final ball. That will come and on the way we have controlled games, we just need to get that first goal. Late on in the game there were some outstanding performances defensively, Colin and Shaun were outstanding in the middle of the back four, it was a good all round performance although I am a little bit disappointed we did not come away with a win”
