Manager Evans, who saw his side slip to fifth but came from 2 goals down to rescue a late point, said: "We'll take it on the chin. We've dropped to fifth but there is still a lot of football to play next week.
"It wasn't very good for long spells. It was a disjointed performance, but we made some changes and it was better in the second half. We got back in it and got a point.
"But I cannot fault my team for effort, spirit and keeping going until the end. If we had equalised when we were only one down it would have been different, but we wasted chance after chance. If we had scored then I think we would have won comfortably.
"It took us probably until 65 minutes to realise we might get beaten and we said to them we cannot turn games round in the final 20 minutes.
"I was delighted late on because I felt then we had a proper go but we'll learn and go to Swindon next week who've nothing to play for now."
