Atfer two goals from Kevin Ellison set them on their way, Drewe Broughton and a Gary Roberts wonder strike completed the scoring.
Boss Ronnie Moore was delighted with the three points and spoke to the post match media with his thoughts on the afternoon's events in a pulsating derby.
He commented: "As far as derby games go it was brilliant. I thought we were the best side by a mile. The first half was probably the best we have played and then what a great goal from Roberts.
"It was a great all round team performance, as bad as we were the other night we were brilliant today. I have nothing but credit to the players, we changed it round a little today, but my only disappointment is that we let them back into the game right at the start of the second half."
The recalled Broughton was in the thick of the action, and was treading thin ice at times, Moore continued: "I thought that their number two was bang out of order because I saw the incident and there wasn't a cat in hells chance that he (Drewe) caught him.
"Talk about cheating it was ridiculous what he did. I thought the referee was going to send me upstairs because I wasn't happy with it and I let the player know.
"Kevin Ellison is having a little laugh with Alfie because he says he is catching him up," (on the goals front) added Moore.
"I thought that Drewe lead the line as well as I have seen. He was magnificent to be fair to him, he was booked in the first half but he promised me at half time he wasn't going to do anything daft and he went on to perform as well as I have seen him."
Of Roberts' wonder goal, Moore concluded: "If that was scored in the Premiership then it would have been on all week and I thought he really showed what he was about today.
"I actually shouted at him because I thought 'What is he doing?' and the next minute it's in, it was just incredible. To be fair I think it is one of the best goals that you will ever see."
