"After that we showed great spirit to come back and I have nothing but praise for them, there were one or two mistakes at the back but that is something we will put right. We knew that Crewe would get the ball down and try and play, their wingers came inside and your thinking that they would be difficult to break down.
"I thought we were always a threat and that we were going to get a goal so it was nice when it came.
"Drewe (Broughton) has come on and scored so the competition and spirit is there and that is what you need to be successful at this football club," he added.
"I think we have a squad that will always get goals but what we need to do is stop conceding because we have a terrible habit of letting goals in during the first 10 minutes of the first and second half. It can only be down to people sleeping and not being focused but I am pleased because it is my first win and now we look forward.
"I said after Tuesday that I could have changed seven or eight of them but I gave them another chance and a lot of them have taken it."
