But after the Millers clinched their third win of the season and second away triumph in 4 days to stay top of the table, Scott was pleased with his troops after Tuesday nights game.
He told the press afterwards: "This is always a tough place to come,
"Saturday was their first loss here since February and we knew that Crewe had played well in their first three games. We didn't play great, but we played as a team and sometimes that counts for more.
"Cressy had a header cleared off the line and Alfie had a shot tipped over the bar, so I felt we had the better chances in the first half, but then we allowed Crewe to play too high up the pitch in the second half.We didn't get up in support of Alfie quick enough in the second half, but we made the decision to keep Crewe out and we backed ourselves to do it.We conceded a scruffy goal but teams are looking at us now and we know we can deal with anything that teams throw at us."
Scotty added: "To not play at 100% and still win the game is a good good result, but to get two wins against Plymouth and Crewe, who are good sides, and after all the travelling we have done is great. It is testament to all the hard work we have done that we can look at the table and see we have nine points. We've had a really tough start to the season and we've come out of it with three league wins and a credible performance against Leicester, so I'm very proud of the lads.
"We know there is still a lot of hard work to be done, but we can look back on the first four games and be extremely pleased."
