"We kept at it, we kept going and kept going," Patterson said afterards.
"The spirit and the honesty from them was fantastic so I was really pleased for them. We started very brightly again and we didn't get frustrated. We kept playing our football and kept moving it, and I'd have liked it a bit quicker, but it's been two games in three days.
"I thought we bossed the first-half and were a little unlucky not to be in front, and it's been the same pattern as we've seen in recent weeks. We kept at it and kept at it, and it was a great physical effort, a great team ethic and a great goal in the end with that terrific header.
"Cheltenham are a good side which you saw second-half but we dealt with that well, and I'm just delighted with them because they're a very honest group. They've made it easy for me to pick the team recently with how they have performed,"
