The gaffer said: "I was delighted with the performance and really pleased with the manner with which the players performed, I thought every Millers player gave their all today and was very proud of them, they all did exactly what I asked of them.
"We still want more from the players and today was a good start without a shadow of a doubt, from last week to this, it's chalk and cheese, and I'm proud of every one of them.
"Jamie Yates has been knocking on the door for a while now and I thought he would give us something that we needed down the right, which we haven't had, he was outstanding today, especially with it being his first game, he's come in under difficult circumstances and has shown he's going to be a player for the future, for the club.
"Rossi Jarvis and Liam King played their first game out in midfield today and did a great job, as did Stephen Brogan who played at left back and did a outstanding job in defence.
"The first goal is always important as it changes the face of the game, we knew they were going to come at us, and they didn't disappoint us, they've got some good lads in the team, they were using Shipperley as the target and then Owusu when he came on, they made it difficult for us, but we weathered the storm.
"The defence did a great job today and were outstanding, we were never exposed at the back and were solid, dealing well with anything they threw at us.
"I saw a belief that we can get out of the position we are in and that pleases me very much. I did a lot of talking with the team last week, they have all taken that on board and done everything I asked of them. We can play better than we did today, but its not a time for that, it's a time for rolling our sleeves up and doing the not so nice things and everyone did that."
