The Millers kept a clean sheet with loanee Guy Branston at the heart of the solid defensive display, as Lewis Grabban and Chris Holroyd's first half efforts sealed victory.
And after their first win in ten games Scott said he was pleased with the points.
"It wasn't pretty but we got the job done," he told Millers Player after game.
"We were never in trouble today, we created quite a few chances and had plenty of energy throughout the game. We showed plenty of desire not just to win the game but to keep a clean sheet as well. I was delighted for the lads. We have worked extra hard over the last month to turn results around, and it was a big relief. We're capable of playing even better and we will do."
"I've said to the lads it takes a squad to be successful," he added. "There's people on the side-lines who haven't played, they've responded in the right way, and their reaction to not playing has been fantastic. Chris Holroyd is one of those players. He knew what we wanted him to do and knew we needed a bit more from his game, but he's been a threat."
